Photo: Weapons, ammunition found as army clashes with wanted suspect
The Army Command – Directorate of Guidance issued the following statement:
“A military unit arrested (A.K.), a wanted individual on charges of arms trafficking, in the Safri area of Baalbek. During the arrest operation, the unit’s personnel came under fire and returned fire, with no injuries reported.
Following the incident, another military unit carried out raids in the area and arrested a Syrian national, (A.F.), for his involvement in transporting the weapons to another location. The unit also seized a quantity of weapons and military ammunition, as well as military equipment.
The seized items were handed over, and an investigation was launched with the two detainees under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.”
