Rasamny refers Mkaless flooding case to Public Prosecution
The Ministry of Public Works and Transport announced that, as part of its follow-up on the flooding in the Mkaless area and preliminary findings concerning the Mansourieh worksite, Minister Fayez Rasamny has filed a report with the Cassation Public Prosecution requesting the necessary investigations, the determination of responsibility and accountability for anyone found to have committed negligence or dereliction of duty.
The ministry stressed that the investigation must cover all concerned parties without exception, from the contractor and supervising consultant to any other party whose responsibility is established.
As a precautionary measure, the ministry said no new works will be awarded to the contractor or consultancy concerned until the investigations are concluded and responsibilities determined. All documents and technical reports have been placed at the judiciary’s disposal.
Rasamny stressed that public safety and public funds allow no room for negligence, adding that anyone found responsible will be held accountable under the law, regardless of their position or capacity.
