Ogero employees seek Labor Ministry mediation to secure minimum wage
Employees of Ogero, the state-run telecommunications company, represented by lawyer Ali Kamal Abbas, have submitted a formal mediation request to the Labor Ministry’s Labor and Professional Relations Department. The request was registered under No. 2/1291 on September 22, 2025.
The request focuses on two main issues.
First, payment of minimum-wage differentials:
The employees are calling for the implementation and payment of the benefits stipulated in the latest decree on the official minimum wage, Decree No. 699/2025 dated July 24, 2025. They said they were excluded from the latest increase despite having benefited from previous salary increases implemented over the past years. They consider the failure to pay the increase an explicit violation of the decree and unlawful discrimination against them.
Second, Compensation Fund 161:
They are also calling for the chronic deficit in the end-of-service compensation fund, known as Fund 161, to be addressed, including urgent measures to secure the necessary funding to protect the rights of current and retired employees. They are also seeking a reassessment and settlement of compensation payments made during the period of monetary collapse, which they say lost their real value.
Lawyer Abbas said his clients are long-serving employees who have worked at Ogero for many years, stressing that the continued failure to implement the minimum wage and the lack of action to address Fund 161 threaten the social and economic security of dozens of families.
