Bou Saab and UN Delegation discuss south Lebanon stability, ceasefire and legislative affairs
Deputy Parliament Speaker Elias Bou Saab received Acting UN Special Coordinator for Lebanon Jean Arnault at Parliament on Tuesday, accompanied by Political Affairs Officer Lars de Geer and Special Assistant Lina Aqudwa.
The meeting reviewed developments in Lebanon, with particular focus on South Lebanon and prospects for stability.
According to a statement from Bou Saab’s office, participants stressed that lasting stability requires a comprehensive solution that brings an end to continued Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
Bou Saab told the UN delegation that Lebanon had seen no Israeli commitment to the previously signed ceasefire agreement, arguing that Israel’s continued refusal to comply remained a major obstacle to progress in negotiations.
The meeting also addressed legislative affairs and Parliament’s role during the current phase.
