  • Sun August 2 2026 1:21 pm

The Meteorological Department of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation forecast that Lebanon and the eastern Mediterranean basin will remain under the influence of hot air masses centered over the Arabian Peninsula, with temperatures reaching 40°C in inland areas. High humidity along the coast will further increase the heat index. The hot air masses will gradually recede on Tuesday, with temperatures returning to typical summer levels on Wednesday.

The department warned against direct exposure to sunlight and the risk of wildfires in forested areas.

Weather forecast in Lebanon:

Sunday: Partly cloudy, with hot and oppressive conditions prevailing. Temperatures will rise along the coast, reaching levels above seasonal averages, while remaining stable in the mountains and inland areas. Humidity will decrease slightly. The department warned of an increased risk of wildfires in forested areas.

Monday: Partly cloudy, with temperatures remaining stable inland and dipping slightly over the mountains and along the coast.

Tuesday: Partly cloudy to partly overcast, with temperatures beginning to decrease but remaining several degrees above seasonal averages. Fog will form over the higher elevations starting in the afternoon.

Wednesday: Partly cloudy, with a further drop in temperatures, which will return to seasonal averages. Fog will form over the higher elevations starting in the afternoon.

Surface winds: Westerly to northwesterly during the day, becoming light and variable at night, with speeds ranging between 10 and 30 km/h.

Visibility: Good.

Relative humidity along the coast: 55–70%.

Sea conditions: Low wave height.

Sea surface temperature: 29°C.
