Salam chairs meeting to launch recovery projects in Pilot areas
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired a central meeting dedicated to discussing the launch of recovery projects in the so-called pilot zones, as part of the first phase of South Lebanon Return and Recovery Plan.
The meeting was attended by Minister of National Defense Michel Menassa, Minister of Social Affairs Haneen El Sayed, Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny, President of the Council for Development and Reconstruction Mohammad Ali Kabbani, Secretary-General of the Higher Relief Council Brigadier General Bassam Nabulsi, President of the South Council Hashem Haidar, Head of the Central Operations Room at the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Zahi Shaheen, and a representative of Army Command.
Premier Salam stressed the importance of intensifying coordination among all concerned ministries, government bodies, and security and military forces to ensure the successful implementation of the first phase and secure a safe and dignified return for residents.
To avoid any field obstacles, Salam directed that open follow-up meetings be held at the Grand Serail to monitor progress of work on an ongoing basis.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the need to expedite the removal of rubble, reopen roads, and restore essential services and vital infrastructure, while prioritizing the provision of prefabricated housing units for the targeted towns to ensure a swift return of residents.
Salam tasked the relevant authorities with preparing detailed plans to launch recovery projects and immediately begin reconstructing the bridge linking Qaqaiyat al-Jisr to the town of Froun, given its importance in reconnecting southern villages and districts and facilitating the movement of citizens.
