Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri paid tribute to the Lebanese Army on the occasion of its 81st anniversary, describing it as a model of unity, national identity, sacrifice and loyalty.
Berri said the army continued to defend a united Lebanon sought by its people, in contrast to what he described as territories being reshaped by the Israeli occupation through fire, killing and destruction.
He said the army belonged to Lebanon and all Lebanese and remained central to protecting sovereignty, liberating occupied land, safeguarding citizens, and preserving stability and civil peace.
Berri extended his appreciation to the army commander, officers, non-commissioned officers, soldiers, fallen personnel and wounded troops.
With you and alongside you, we protect Lebanon, contribute to its revival and complete the liberation of its land, he said.
