Erdoğan pledges continued support for Lebanon
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Lebanon would be among the countries to benefit most from greater stability and cooperation in the region, following talks with President Joseph Aoun in Ankara.
Erdoğan said the two leaders had assessed the forms of assistance Turkey could provide to Lebanon. He added that continued dialogue between Lebanon and Syria would benefit both countries and said Ankara was ready to help advance bilateral relations.
The Turkish president also expressed his country’s willingness to participate in any force aimed at safeguarding regional security and stability, including a potential alternative force in Lebanon.
Erdoğan pledged continued Turkish support for the Lebanese Armed Forces, saying it would remain uninterrupted.
He also condemned what he described as Israeli war crimes in Lebanon and said Turkey stood ready to assist in the reconstruction of southern Lebanon.
