The Communications Ministry said that it was not the authority responsible for investigating reports of illegal telecommunications networks, stressing that the matter falls within the jurisdiction of the security services and the judiciary.
In a statement, the ministry said it had been informed that investigations were underway and was awaiting their outcome. It added that it was cooperating with the competent authorities, upon request, in accordance with applicable laws and procedures.
The ministry reiterated that Lebanon’s telecommunications infrastructure was the exclusive property of the state and said any network operating outside the legal framework constituted a violation that would be addressed through the appropriate legal channels.
