Smuggling Attempt Foiled: Captagon Found Hidden Inside Child’s Bed
The Internal Security Forces – Public Relations Division issued the following statement:
“As part of the Internal Security Forces’ ongoing efforts to pursue and arrest individuals involved in drug-related crimes, and within the security plan established by the Judicial Police Unit to combat this scourge and curb its spread, the Central Anti-Drug Bureau launched investigations and inquiries following the seizure by airport customs authorities on June 26, 2026, of a 4.5-kilogram package of Captagon pills concealed professionally inside a child’s bed.
The package was due to be smuggled to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia through a shipping company. The bureau began the necessary investigations and inquiries, while also analyzing technical information to identify and arrest those involved.
As a result of the investigations, the sender of the package was located in the Riad El Solh area of Beirut. A bureau patrol arrested him on June 29, 2026. He was identified as R.A., born in 1983, a Lebanese national.
Through further investigations and close monitoring, the bureau also foiled another smuggling operation, seizing 6.5 kilograms of Captagon pills that had been prepared for shipment to Kuwait through a shipping company, concealed inside children’s beds.
The bureau also coordinated with Kuwait’s General Directorate for Narcotics Control through the Criminal Security Office at the Kuwaiti Embassy in Lebanon. This resulted in the arrest of one of the individuals involved in Kuwait and the seizure of a quantity of drugs in his possession.
Legal proceedings were taken against the arrested individual, while efforts remain underway to apprehend the other people involved, in coordination with the competent judicial authorities.”
