Discussions also addressed securing funding for essential medicines, maintaining regular supplies and easing the financial burden of treatment on citizens.
Participants reviewed administrative and financial obstacles delaying payments and explored mechanisms to streamline procedures through closer coordination between the Finance and Health Ministries.
The meeting also examined emergency healthcare and hospital preparedness measures in the event of a potential escalation along the border with Israel, including the financial resources needed to maintain medical services during emergencies.
Additionally, participants discussed the proposed universal healthcare coverage law currently under consideration by Parliament’s joint committees, reviewing its provisions, financial requirements and long-term sustainability.
They stressed the importance of expanding healthcare coverage, reducing hospitalization and medication costs, and strengthening social protection across Lebanon.
