Social Affairs Minister discusses ways of enhancing cooperation with her Turkish counterpart
As part of her visit to the Republic of Turkey, Social Affairs Minister Haneen Al-Sayed held a meeting with Türkish Minister of Family and Social Services, Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, during which they discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two ministries in areas of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the two sides affirmed that the two ministries share similar responsibilities in the fields of social services, social assistance, family care, child protection, empowering persons with disabilities, and combating violence against women, creating broad opportunities for exchanging expertise and benefiting from the experience accumulated by both countries in these sectors.
Minister Al-Sayed and her Turkish counterpart agreed to work on preparing a memorandum of understanding between the two ministries aimed at establishing an institutional framework for technical cooperation, exchanging expertise, building capacities, and developing joint policies and programs across various areas of social work.
Minister Sayed also expressed Lebanon’s appreciation for the support provided by the Republic of Turkey to Lebanon and its people, especially during the period following the recent war, praising the solidarity shown by Turkey in standing by the Lebanese in these difficult circumstances.
Al-Sayed further stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral partnerships to help develop social protection systems and improve services provided to citizens in both countries.
