Berri broaches developments with Egyptian Ambassador
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri received Egyptian Ambassador to Lebanon, Alaa Moussa, at the Second Presidency headquarters in Ain el-Tineh.
The discussion reportedly touched on developments in Lebanon and the region, as well as the latest political and field updates.
After the meeting, Ambassador Moussa said: I met with His Excellency Speaker Nabih Berri. Today’s visit comes as part of my regular visits and meetings with Speaker Berri.
Ambassador Moussa added: As you know, the region is witnessing numerous developments with clear ramifications. It was therefore important to brief Speaker Berri on the latest developments and on Egypt's ongoing efforts to help de-escalate tensions and facilitate a return to the negotiating table, particularly regarding the situation between the United States and Iran.
Moussa continued: We also discussed the situation in Lebanon and the measures being taken. As you know, Speaker Berri has consistently stressed in every meeting—particularly in our discussions—the need for a complete end to the Israeli attacks on Lebanon, a full Israeli withdrawal from all Lebanese territory, the return of displaced residents, and the launch of the reconstruction process.
The Egyptian Ambassador also indicated that the meeting also provided an opportunity to reaffirm that Egypt is making every effort to stop the Israeli attacks on Lebanon and enable the Lebanese state to assert its authority across its entire territory.
