Morcos hails Aoun-Trump summit as ‘historic’
Information Minister Paul Morcos described President Joseph Aoun’s meeting with US President Donald Trump in Washington as historic, saying it marked formal US recognition of Lebanon’s sovereign decision-making and support for the Lebanese Army’s deployment alongside Israeli withdrawals from agreed areas.
Morcos said the talks also signaled US backing for reforms, investment and a possible resumption of direct flights to Beirut. He reiterated Lebanon’s demand for a full Israeli withdrawal and said political debate over the visit should remain free of hate speech while respecting democratic principles.
