Health Minister calls for review of healthcare sector
Health Minister Rakan Nassereddine said the country needs to review and reassess the healthcare sector in light of the challenges posed by successive conflicts, crises and wars, stressing the importance of identifying gaps and strengthening existing capacities and resources.
In an interview with Al-Resala Radio, Nassereddine said a workshop titled From Review to Reform, organized by the Ministry of Public Health in cooperation with the World Health Organization and the European Union, aims to develop a future health roadmap for Lebanon based on the national health strategy.
He said the next phase requires a comprehensive vision encompassing universal health coverage, access to medicines, the development of hospital services, protection of vulnerable groups, and stronger cooperation with international partners. He added that the reform agenda will also examine healthcare financing, financial management and budgeting mechanisms to help build a more sustainable and resilient health system capable of responding to future crises.
