Interior Minister discusses humanitarian response, Syrian returns with UNHCR
Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar met with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees’ Representative in Lebanon, Carolina Lindholm Billing, accompanied by the agency’s Senior Liaison Officer, Chekrallah Abou Jaoudeh.
The meeting focused on the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, the humanitarian needs resulting from the recent Israeli offensive on Lebanon, the situation of displaced people, and efforts to address the current humanitarian challenges.
The two sides also discussed developments related to the plan for the return of displaced Syrians to their country. Al-Hajjar stressed the importance of exchanging data on displaced Syrians to ensure it matches the records held by Lebanon’s General Directorate of General Security.
