Karam: Aoun’s US trip is part of strategy to restore Lebanon’s sovereignty
MP Fadi Karam said President Joseph Aoun’s upcoming visit to Washington was expected to yield positive results but should be viewed as part of a broader effort to strengthen Lebanon’s sovereignty. Speaking in an interview, Karam warned of a renewed conflict on the southern front driven by Iranian calculations, claiming Hezbollah continued to act on instructions from Iran’s Revolutionary Guard.
He also said the Lebanese Forces remained ready to attend an extraordinary parliamentary session to approve the agreed draft general amnesty law without linking it to other legislation.
