State security chief highlights Lebanon’s counterterrorism experience at Baku Security Forum
State Security Director General Major General Edgar Lawandos represented Lebanon at the fourth Baku Security Forum in Azerbaijan, focused on emerging global security challenges and counterterrorism cooperation.
Lawandos said terrorism transcends borders and requires international cooperation, particularly in intelligence-sharing, tracking increasingly complex financing networks and confronting cybercrime and digital extremism.
He called for a permanent security cooperation mechanism based on mutual trust and respect for national sovereignty, stressing that Lebanon’s security institutions continue to perform professionally despite economic, political and wartime pressures.
Lawandos also held bilateral meetings with participating security chiefs to discuss enhanced cooperation and exchange of expertise.
