Salam discusses developments with Finland’s president
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met with Finnish President Alexander Stubb in the presence of Ambassador Ibrahim Assaf, director of political and consular affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants.
The meeting focused on the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, particularly the ongoing regional escalation and its repercussions.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to multilateralism and to the United Nations’ central role in maintaining international peace and security. They also stressed the importance of upholding the rules-based international order and strengthening multilateral cooperation.
Salam thanked Finland for its contribution to UNIFIL and its role in supporting stability in southern Lebanon. Both sides welcomed efforts to ensure the continuity of the United Nations’ role in Lebanon, stressing the importance of maintaining an international force after UNIFIL’s mandate ends to prevent any security vacuum and help preserve stability.
