Salam discusses with his Qatari counterpart the importance of stepping up efforts to de-escalate tensions
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam met with Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani , in the presence of Foreign Affairs and Emigrants Minister Youssef Raggi and Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi.
The meeting focused on the latest developments in the region, with both sides stressing the importance of stepping up efforts to de-escalate tensions, preserve the security and stability of the Gulf states and the region, and prevent further confrontations.
They also discussed bilateral relations and ways to strengthen them. Salam thanked Qatar for its continued support for Lebanon.
The talks also addressed ways to enhance support and cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the energy and electricity sectors, given their importance in easing the living difficulties faced by the Lebanese people. The two sides also discussed support for the Lebanese Army and efforts to strengthen its capabilities.
The meeting also covered ways to boost economic and investment cooperation between the two countries and support Lebanon’s recovery and reconstruction efforts.
