The municipality of Bazouriye warned in a statement residents of the town and surrounding areas about the “possible spread of internationally prohibited cluster bombs with a camouflage shape resembling small children’s play balls in several villages and towns in the south.”
The municipality urged residents to “raise awareness among children in particular and to avoid touching or approaching any strange objects or colored spherical items that may resemble toys, as well as to avoid fields, orchards, and open lands that have not been surveyed or cleared.”
It stressed “the necessity of not moving any suspicious object when found, and to immediately report it to the municipality, the relevant security forces, or the Lebanese Army,” emphasizing “the danger of these munitions, which may pose a direct threat to the lives of citizens, especially children.”
