President Joseph Aoun held a series of meetings focused on the political, security and diplomatic challenges facing Lebanon, amid ongoing regional developments and efforts to reinforce stability.
During talks with Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar, both sides reviewed the current political situation and reaffirmed support for the President’s efforts to strengthen security and stability. Discussions also addressed Saudi Arabia’s decision to resume imports from Lebanon, which was welcomed as a sign of confidence in the Lebanese state and its institutions. Hajjar briefed Aoun on security measures being implemented ahead of the launch of operations at René Moawad Airport and stressed the continued deployment of security forces across the country, particularly in Beirut.
Aoun also met MP Melhem Riachy, who attended as an envoy of Samir Geagea. The meeting reviewed developments in Lebanon and the region, including US-Iran negotiations in Switzerland and preparations for a new round of Lebanese-American-Israeli talks in Washington.
