Aoun highlights diaspora’s global role
President of the Republic Joseph Aoun received Daniel Fernando Sturla, Archbishop of Montevideo and Cardinal of Uruguay, accompanied by Maronite Mariamite Order Superior General Edmond Rizk and Father Cesar Lahoud, head of the Order’s mission in Uruguay.
Discussions focused on the Lebanese community and people of Lebanese descent in Uruguay, as well as bilateral relations. Aoun stressed the pivotal role played by the Lebanese diaspora in strengthening Lebanon’s presence worldwide and reinforcing its role as a bridge between East and West.
