Samy Gemayel to Hezbollah: We will not coexist with you
The head of the Kataeb Party, MP Samy Gemayel, stressed that “Hezbollah keeping its weapons is the first and last obstacle to Lebanon returning to the path of recovery. The land will not be liberated, the displaced will not return, and we will not live in peace as long as there are militias on our territory.”
Gemayel emphasized, in a press conference, that “Iran is trying to salvage what remains of Hezbollah’s military forces in order to use them again whenever needed and whenever Iran is in danger,” noting that “Lebanon contributed ten times more in the war than Iran did, as confirmed by Qalibaf,” adding: “Let’s calm down,” out of respect for displaced people and civilian martyrs, and “tone down the meaningless talk.”
He considered that “the Lebanese state must show the world that there is a state that speaks and acts, and it is time for the Lebanese army to implement decisions. There are no more excuses,” explaining that “we will not coexist with Hezbollah regardless of the outcome of negotiations, and they must abide by the state’s conditions, as most Lebanese are not prepared to live hostage to Hezbollah.”
He concluded: “We promise you this will be the ‘end of sorrows,’ and we will live in peace and security. We will not accept going backwards, and we remain committed to our land. We will not live in a country of wars, blood, and killing.”
