Minister of Information Paul Morcos welcomed Pakistani Ambassador to Lebanon, Salman Athar, in his office at the ministry.
The discussion reportedly touched on the general situation and the bilateral relations between the two countries.
Minister Morcos said following the meeting: The visit of the Pakistani ambassador comes, as always, within the framework of the friendship that binds our two countries. Discussions focused on general developments, particularly Pakistan’s efforts to help ensure stability in the region, and the implications for Lebanon, in light of the statement made today by President Joseph Aoun, welcoming any assistance aimed at ending the war, including achieving a sustainable ceasefire, while preserving the efforts undertaken by the Lebanese state through the negotiating track led by President Aoun.
Minister Morcos added that discussions also touched on the possibility of media cooperation with Pakistan.
For his part, the Pakistani Ambassador said: I held an excellent meeting with the Minister of Information, during which we discussed the bilateral relations between our two countries and ways to further develop them in the field of media. I also briefed him on my country’s efforts to reduce tensions in the region, and he expressed appreciation for the efforts being undertaken by Pakistan.
The Pakistani Ambassador affirmed that Pakistan, which believes in peace, will continue its efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region. He stressed that our country believes in diplomacy and dialogue, and our efforts in this regard have been successful.
Ambassador Athar added: Pakistan has always supported Lebanon’s independence and sovereignty over its territory. We stand by the Lebanese people and their government, and we will continue to provide support through all available means.
