Aoun Reviews Washington Talks, Briefs Negotiating Team Ahead of Next Round
President of the Republic Joseph Aoun chaired a meeting at Baabda Palace attended by Lebanese Armed Forces Commander Rodolphe Haykal, chief negotiator Simon Karam and military officers serving on the Lebanese negotiating team.
The meeting assessed the outcomes of two rounds of talks held in Washington on May 29 and June 2–3 with U.S. and Israeli officials at the Pentagon and the U.S. Department of State.
Aoun also provided Karam and the military delegation with guidance and directives ahead of the next negotiating session, scheduled to take place in Washington during the week beginning June 22, as Lebanon continues diplomatic efforts aimed at addressing outstanding security and political issues.
