Following a meeting between President Joseph Aoun and a delegation representing Islamic and Christian religious leaders, Druze Sheikh Akl Sami Abi El Muna said the president had adopted the principles and objectives outlined in the final statement of the spiritual summit held on June 2.
Abi El Muna said the move reflects a convergence between Lebanon’s religious authorities and the presidency on national constants and shared values.
He stressed that the responsibilities of religious leaders complement those of state institutions in addressing the challenges facing Lebanon, adding that national unity remains the country’s true source of strength.
Abi El Muna also emphasized that preserving civil peace and reinforcing national partnership among all Lebanese communities are essential guarantees for navigating the current difficult period.
