Berri discusses developments with EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs
Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri, on Thursday received EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas, at Ain el-Tineh, in the presence of EU Ambassador to Lebanon, Sandra De Waele, and Berri’s Media Advisor Dr. Ali Hamdan.
The meeting addressed the situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as the latest political and security developments, amid Israel’s continued violations of the ceasefire agreement and its daily attacks on southern villages and towns. Discussions also covered relations between Lebanon and the European Union countries, and the role the EU can play in assisting Lebanon in various fields, particularly in reconstruction dossier, and in supporting Lebanon’s position in maintaining the presence of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
Speaker Berri also received in Ain el-Tineh, US Senator James Paul Klanford, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, and the accompanying delegation.
The discussion touched on the general situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as political developments and bilateral relations.
Speaker Berri told Lankford that Israel has not complied, at any point, with any of the agreements reached, from Resolution 425 through Resolution 1701, the November 2024 agreement, and most recently, the trilateral framework agreement.
He said, The underlying problem remains the same: Israel’s failure to abide by its obligations under all these agreements.
