New Details on Arrested ISIS Suspect
MTV's website has learned that the Syrian national arrested over suspected ties to ISIS was detained after Lebanon’s General Security Intelligence Branch tracked and monitored him in the Sidon area.
According to the details, investigators from the General Security Intelligence Branch confronted the suspect with data recovered from his phone, including correspondence, phone numbers, photos and video footage that he had been distributing as part of ISIS propaganda. Investigators also found evidence of his contacts with senior ISIS figures.
The suspect initially denied belonging to the group, but later admitted to his affiliation after being confronted with technical evidence contradicting his claims.
