Lebanon’s General Security Directorate said in a statement that it arrested a Syrian national, identified as (H.T.A.), on October 2, 2026, on suspicion of belonging to ISIS, promoting its extremist ideology and providing support to the group.
According to the statement, the suspect was involved in distributing and circulating ISIS propaganda materials, attempting to recruit others to its ideology, and providing financial assistance to the families of ISIS members killed in Syria.
Investigations also found that his brother, (M.T.A.), and three other relatives were killed while fighting alongside ISIS in Syria in 2015.
The suspect was referred to the competent judicial authorities for further legal proceedings.
