Salam discusses framework agreement with Senator Lankford
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam received US Senator James Lankford in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa and the accompanying delegation.
The meeting addressed developments in Lebanon and the region, particularly the situation in southern Lebanon, as well as ways to move forward with implementing the tripartite framework. Salam stressed the need to establish a clear timeline for fulfilling the mutual commitments and to put in place a mechanism to verify implementation, based on the principles of reciprocity and phased implementation.
The talks also covered the importance of continued US support for the Lebanese Army to enable it to carry out its missions and extend state authority across the country, in addition to supporting the process of return, recovery and reconstruction in areas affected by the war.
