Saddi receives update from EDL board on efforts to resume operations at Zouk and Jiyeh power stations
Energy and Water Minister Joe Saddi met with EDL Chairman Nassib Nasr, accompanied by Board Member Samer Hassanieh, who is tasked with following up on the file. They briefed him on the details of the meeting of the Parliamentary Public Works, Energy and Transport Committee, which was dedicated to following up on the operation of the Zouk and Jiyyeh power stations, as well as the Board’s efforts to resume operations through two technical and administrative tracks.
According to the available fuel supplies, the restart would provide approximately an additional hour and a half of electricity supply per day for a month and a half.
They also stressed that once the two stations are operational, any malfunction will be the responsibility of the operator, in accordance with the terms of the applicable operating contract.
