Raggi meets with his Moroccan counterpart
Foreign Minister Youssef Raggi wrote on his X account: I held a meeting in New York with Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, during which we discussed the situation in Lebanon and the region, as well as bilateral relations between the two countries.
We shared the same assessment of the sensitive situation in Lebanon, as well as the reasons behind the continuation of the crisis and the challenges facing the country at this stage.
My Moroccan counterpart and I also agreed that there is a widespread misconception surrounding the principle of self-defense, and that this responsibility must remain exclusively in the hands of the Lebanese state and its legitimate institutions. It is not a responsibility to be assumed by any armed group operating outside the framework of the state.
During the UN General Assembly, I also took part in a joint ministerial meeting of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation on Jerusalem, co-chaired by the foreign ministers of Tunisia and Türkiye.
The meeting focused on coordinating and strengthening joint efforts between the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to protect the city of Jerusalem and its Christian and Muslim holy sites, and to preserve its existing historical and legal status.”
