Hani tours Bekaa agricultural projects, pushes export growth and modern farming
Agriculture Minister Nizar Hani toured agricultural projects in the Bekaa focused on modern production, post-harvest services and export readiness.
Visits included MEDIGARDENS packing center, Berry Fruits Farm and the Agri Fresh project, which produces around three million heads of lettuce annually using technology-driven methods.
Hani stressed efficient water and input use, consistent quality, reduced waste, proper sorting, packaging and cold-chain management.
He said expanding exports requires reliable supply and compliance with market standards, highlighting Gulf markets, particularly Saudi Arabia.
The tour concluded in Ain Zebdeh with grape growers and exporters. Hani said grapes lead Lebanon’s agricultural exports and reach more than 40 countries, calling for stronger coordination, better quality control and wider market access.
