State Security marks 41 years, Lawandos calls for stronger institutions
Lebanon’s General Directorate of State Security marked the 41st anniversary of its establishment with a symbolic military ceremony at its headquarters, attended by officers and personnel.
In an order of the day, Director General, Major General Edgar Lawandos said the anniversary comes at a sensitive security juncture marked by significant challenges, urging personnel to intensify their efforts and uphold the state, its institutions and authority.
Lawandos paid tribute to State Security personnel killed in the line of duty, pledging to remain faithful to their sacrifices.
He stressed that enforcing laws and combating corruption, bribery and forgery in public administrations remain among the agency’s core responsibilities, while highlighting professionalism, discipline and sustained institutional work.
Lawandos also said technological and scientific modernization would be a key priority in the coming phase, emphasizing competence, merit and responsibility.
Similar ceremonies featuring the reading of the order of the day were held across State Security’s regional directorates.
