Could School Days Be Reduced?
Secretary-General of Catholic Schools Father Youssef Nasr stressed the need to address teachers’ demands calmly, noting that “a meeting of the Union of Private Educational Institutions will be held next week to reach a consensual decision on the matter.”
Speaking in an interview, Father Nasr said, “We understand the teachers’ situation, but we must be realistic. Given the current economic downturn, we cannot place additional burdens on parents.”
Regarding the possibility of reducing the number of school days or switching to remote learning, Nasr said “no decision has been made on this at present,” stressing that schools are continuing to provide five days of in-person instruction to maintain the quality of education. He added that there may be some exceptions in certain rural areas as a temporary solution.
