Defense Minister Michel Menassa welcomed Danish Ambassador to Lebanon, Kristoffer Vivike, in Yarzeh, where the envoy reaffirmed Denmark’s commitment to supporting Lebanon and the Lebanese Armed Forces, both directly and through the United Nations Development Programme and the European Union.
The ambassador also informed Menassa of Copenhagen’s decision to establish a military attaché office at its embassy in Beirut and appoint a Danish military attaché to Lebanon, in a move aimed at strengthening bilateral defense cooperation.
Discussions covered regional developments, including the U.S.-Iran memorandum of understanding, ongoing U.S.-mediated Lebanon-Israel negotiations, and the future of United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon following the end of its current mandate later this year.
Menassa later met former MP Atef Majdalani to discuss the country’s political and security situation.
