The Israeli army carried out last night an airstrike in the Bekaa region targeting what it described as an underground site belonging to Hezbollah, which it said was used by the group’s operatives to produce combat equipment intended for attacks against Israeli civilians and Israeli army forces operating in southern Lebanon.
It added that additional strikes targeted Hezbollah infrastructure in the area of the city of Tyre, which it said had been used by the group to plan and execute operations against Israel.
According to the statement, a number of measures were taken prior to the strikes to reduce the risk of civilian casualties, including advance warnings to residents, the use of precision-guided munitions, aerial imagery, and other intelligence assessments.
The army said it continues to operate against threats targeting Israeli civilians and forces, in line with directives from the political leadership.
