President Joseph Aoun received Telecoms Minister Charles Hajj, at Baabda Palace, with whom he discussed the state of the telecommunications sector in south Lebanon.
Speaking following the meeting, Minister Hajj said: I reviewed the extent of the damage inflicted on the telecommunications infrastructure in South Lebanon, as well as the preparations underway to restore services immediately upon residents' return to their villages and towns, given the vital role that communications play in daily life, education, healthcare, and the economy.
Hajj added: I briefed the President on the latest developments in the fiber-optic network project, aimed at expanding high-speed internet coverage across various Lebanese regions, given its direct impact on economic growth, digital transformation, and job creation. In this context, emphasis was made on the importance of extending the fiber-optic network to major cities, within a national vision for recovery and development.
