President of the Republic Joseph Aoun stressed continued efforts to reopen Arab markets, particularly Gulf markets, to Lebanese products, emphasizing the importance of restoring confidence in Lebanon through internal reform.
Speaking during a meeting at Baabda Palace with members of the Economic, Social and Environmental Council following their appointment, Aoun said Lebanon’s crisis is fundamentally one of trust between the state and its citizens, as well as between Lebanon and the international community.
Aoun stressed that reform begins from within, not from abroad, noting that Lebanon’s human resources remain its greatest asset.
Aoun also expressed hope that the current crisis and the suffering of Lebanese citizens, especially in the south, would soon come to an end, allowing the country to return to the right path.
Separately, Aoun received outgoing Swiss ambassador Marion Weichelt and former minister Boutros Harb.
