Central Bank governor Karim Souaid accompanied by a small delegation, took part in the No Money for Terror conference held in Paris under the sponsorship of the G7.
According to a statement, the conference gathered senior international officials, including French Finance Minister, US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, the president of the World Bank Group, the managing director of the International Monetary Fund, central bank governors from the region, including the Saudi central bank governor, and heads of regional bodies affiliated with the Financial Action Task Force.
Discussions focused on mechanisms to combat illicit financing, drug money and terrorism financing.
Souaid said Banque du Liban’s ongoing regulatory measures remain aligned with efforts to curb illegal financial flows, strengthen transparency and compliance standards, restore Lebanon’s credibility within the international financial community and support the country’s efforts to exit the FATF grey list.
