Finance and Budget Committee chairman, MP Ibrahim Kanaan, met European Union director-general for the Middle East, North Africa and the Gulf Michael Karnitschnig and an accompanying delegation at Parliament.
Talks focused on Lebanon’s economic and financial conditions, the path of fiscal and legislative reforms and cooperation between Lebanon and the European Union.
Participants stressed the need to end the ongoing war and its negative impact on Lebanon’s economy, state capabilities and institutional continuity.
They also emphasized the importance of implementing structural reforms through a recovery strategy aimed at restoring domestic and international confidence and establishing a practical plan to recover depositors’ funds.
