Public Health Minister Rakan Nasreddine continued his visit to Geneva, where he is participating in the World Health Assembly and met Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, director-general of the World Health Organization.
Discussions focused on the major challenges facing Lebanon’s health system amid the war.
Nasreddine highlighted the impact of Israeli attacks on medical teams and paramedics, saying 116 healthcare workers had been killed and 263 wounded, alongside damage to ambulances, health centres and hospitals.
The Minister invited Tedros to visit Lebanon and thanked the WHO for its continued support to the Health Ministry and Lebanon’s healthcare system during successive crises since 2019.
