President of the Republic Joseph Aoun held a series of meetings at Baabda Palace focused on political, educational and governance issues amid ongoing developments in Lebanon.
A delegation from the Free Patriotic Movement discussed Israeli attacks, ongoing negotiations and the proposed general amnesty law, stressing support for diplomatic efforts to secure a ceasefire while rejecting any undermining of the presidency.
Aoun also met MPs from the parliamentary education committee to discuss concerns over official exams and challenges facing Lebanon’s education sector.
Separately, the president reviewed cooperation on human rights and security governance with officials from the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF).
American University of Beirut president Fadlo Khuri informed Aoun that applications and registrations for the upcoming academic year had reached their highest level in 50 years.
