El-Zein to MTV: Nature Reserve Critics Should Have Helped When We Were Struggling
Environment Minister Tamara el-Zein stressed that nature reserves must meet specific environmental and geographical criteria, noting that “not every hilltop can be turned into a nature reserve.”
Speaking to MTV, el-Zein said she had opened the door for municipalities to apply to establish small nature reserves.
She also revealed that she had disbursed long-overdue payments to nature reserves that had not received their dues since 2015, adding: “Anyone who claims to care about nature reserves should have supported them when they were struggling to survive with barely any resources.”
