Maronite Council Dean hails Bishop Audi’s sermon
Head of the Maronite General Council, Wadih El-Khazen, commended the points raised in Bishop Elias Audi’s sermon of today, particularly his clear warning against the scourges of arrogance, condescension, and the practice of branding others as traitors, which threaten Lebanese unity and undermine the foundations of coexistence.
In an issued statement, El-Khazen considered that political disagreement grants no one the right to insult or accuse others of treason, stressing that monopolizing patriotism and truth is unacceptable, regardless of the pretexts.
Defending what is right cannot be achieved through injustice, nor can nations be built upon hatred and division, he asserted.
El-Khazen emphasized that the time has come to put an end to the mentality of exclusion and score-settling, and instead turn to the state, the law, and justice.
Lebanon belongs to no single party, he said, adding that the dignity of the Lebanese people is a red line. The nation's interest and unity take precedence over all other considerations, El-Khazen underlined.
