A press conference is scheduled at 11:30 am on Monday, October 5, by a group of MPs to outline reasons for seeking a review of UN Security Council Resolution 2790 and to advocate for UNIFIL's maintained presence in the South.
This initiative follows a letter signed by 86 MPs calling for such a review, in light of the risks associated with UNIFIL's withdrawal and developments regarding the resolution's implementation. The initiative also precedes the upcoming Security Council meeting to discuss the situation in the Middle East and its repercussions.
The conference aims to lay the groundwork for submitting an additional legal memorandum to the relevant authorities in this regard.
