Baabda, Washington, and Tel Aviv Hold Contacts to Ease Tensions
Sources close to the Lebanese presidency told Asharq Al-Awsat that President Joseph Aoun has intensively been contacting the U.S. side, urging Washington to pressure Israel to stop its ongoing military campaign.
The sources said the U.S. side has, in turn, contacted Israel. The efforts included U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Issa, and Lebanon’s Ambassador to Washington Nada Hamadeh Moawad also contacted U.S. officials as part of efforts to contain the Israeli escalation in the south.
