Menassa, Serbian counterpart discuss bilateral military cooperation
Defense Minister Major General Michel Menassa met Serbian Defense Minister Bratislav Gašić at the Serbian Defense Ministry in Belgrade, with Lebanese Ambassador to Serbia Youssef Jabr attending the talks.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations and ways to further develop cooperation between Lebanon and Serbia, particularly in the defense and military fields.
Discussions also addressed the importance of upholding the principles established by the Non-Aligned Movement, foremost among them respect for the sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity of states, non-interference in their internal affairs, and reliance on dialogue and peaceful means to resolve disputes in a manner that promotes security and stability.
Menassa reaffirmed Lebanon’s commitment to these principles, stressing the need to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, support its legitimate institutions and strengthen the Lebanese Army’s role.
He also underscored the importance of enabling the Lebanese state to extend its authority across its entire territory in a way that consolidates stability and paves the way for security and peace.
Separately, Menassa attended a meeting hosted by the dean of the Arab diplomatic corps in Belgrade, Qatari Ambassador Fares bin Roumi Al-Naimi, with a group of Arab ambassadors accredited to Serbia.
The meeting included discussions on the situation in Lebanon and the Middle East, as well as current regional developments.
