Salam Chairs Ministerial Meeting on UNIFIL, State Revenues and New School Year Preparations
Prime Minister Nawaf Salam chaired the government’s regular ministerial meeting at the Grand Serail morning, with discussions focusing on three key files: the future of UNIFIL, state finances and preparations for the new school year.
Following the meeting, Information Minister Dr. Paul Morcos said ministers discussed the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon and the potential repercussions of its withdrawal, including the vacuum that such a move could create.
The meeting stressed the need to maintain an international force presence in southern Lebanon, Morcos said.
Ministers also reviewed the state of public finances amid limited resources, emphasizing the need to intensify revenue collection and boost state income, particularly customs and tax revenues, as well as revenues related to maritime public property.
Morcos said the draft state budget would soon be presented to the government.
The third main file focused on preparations and requirements for the start of the new school year, alongside a number of other issues affecting citizens’ daily lives and living conditions.
